Went to Mac Park at Mt Gambier SA as pit bitch for a mate having his first race . He has done a few ride days and goes fairly well on a 08 GSXR 1000. Decided to try his hand at club racing. Hartwell Club ran the week end with a large variety of classes from Juniors up to superbikes and historics ,two strokes and thunderbikes also in the mix.His class was 600 cc and above novice. Qualified 8th in a field of 15 so things started out well.Poor bastard was shitting razor blades for the first race start. One or two jumped the start causing confusion with the rest , my mate was watching the bikes around him and not the red start light so he reacted once the others started to move ended up leaving the line in 13th place . A 4 lap race he came in 9th , a good result. We didn't make that mistake again for the remainder of the week end.
We ironed out a few little things like lines into some of his slower corners and a few suspensions tweaks , body positons to stop the bike from wheeling everywhere. Bike gearing will be changed before his next race week end. We had a total of 4 races for the week end with a best finish of 4th place. More than happy with his results. This was also my first race meeting as a pit bitch and was nearly as good as riding.
Mac Park Club run a track day last sat of every month barring race week ends etc. Good like track with friendly people will worth the trip.
