I switched to Nulon diesel oil approx 3000K's ago after doing a lot of research.

My 2001 Trx has always run on Motul 4100/

This oil seemed to go off very quickly and after about 3000K's the gearbox would become clunky.

My bike does not suffer from oil usage and has now travelled 30,000 Klms.

It had 14,000 Klms on it when I bought it 20 months ago.

It was a major decision for me to swap , and so far so good.

During my research into oils I came to the conclussion that I had been brian washed into thinking that I had to use a motorcycle specific oil and duly paid through the nose for a product that was inferior to other alternatives.

One guy on here from Oz says that he has done 60,000 Ks on diesel oil without any problems.

I hope that I do not eat my words as I would hate to do any damage to my bike.

At this point I have noticed that the action of my gearbox is smoother and my bike has not used any oil.

If this changes I will certainly make a post on the subject, and at this stage the next oil change will be with Nulon diesel oil.

Good luck and don't be afraid to experiment.

Hope this helps. :) :) :)

Search indeed!

To make it simple, yes, many (I would say most, but would probably get flamed :) ) TRXs burn oil, and no they won't blow up unless there's an unsual, specific problem with your particular engine. Mine has 26,000 miles and I top it up every weekend.
