Hi,

Thinking of getting my rear shock absorber off, and stripping it down to rebuild, as the inner part looks real crap. Does anoyne know if it is rebuildable.... i.e. can i remmove the spring easily, without having to discharge the gas /oil from the reservoir.... ?
Not keen on buying a new shock, as want to keep the bike original....

Advice please....

I don't think it's a DIY job ... I had my unit refurbed by Falcon in Wareham, re-gassed, re-oiled and re-sealed for £60.00 If you need a new damper rod, they can do a full re-con, but budget for about £140.00

May want to look at springing to your weight??? if rebuilding..At 76kg std spring was still a touch light for my weight from memory worked out on on spring table... front/rear from one of the threads here... can't remember which one tho

The standard shock can be rebuilt but ...

changing the spring is not a rebuild! And unless you fancy risking your fingers, pay someone to do it for you
