Fekkin Keihins...

Post by Greg » Fri Jan 26, 2007 12:46 am

Ok - so they're on, and now the engine has a pick-up like never before and the exhaust is really 'barky'...

Now, here's the list of new keihin owners questions!

1) Is there a user's manual anywhere - does anyone have a copy I can copy or borrow or scan??

2) in the absence of the above, I can't at first sight see how they are synchronised - any help or don't they need it?

3) Looking at the carbs from the top, there is a pair of joining tubes with spigots - the bottom is the fuel inlet (well at least I hope it is!) .. is the top one an overflow outlet??

4) Assuming that the bottom spigot is the fuel inlet, mine is pissing fuel out quite badly - are the carbs easily separated and are the seals easily replaced (now you see the relevance of the sync question eh?) but what I don't want to hear is that I've been filling the carbs via the overflow spigot #-o !

And... then there's the question of the TPS ... I've seen the wiring mod and as far as I can see this sets the ignition at full advanced ...?? Now, what impact does this have on low speed running or starting? Is there any mileage in making up a plate to take the TPS sender and linking it to the Keihins? There's a blanking plate on the LHS of the LH carb where the actuating shaft passes through ... Am I making mountains out of molehills...?

Greg the top tube is the air vent to which I ran a tube to exit under the bike and bottom is fuel in , I did the wiring mod for no TPS and have no problems there , just sorting out the fine tuning of the carbs
catch ewe later bob
