Cam chain platic guides

I am having problems 'seating' the forward cam chain plastic guide .
Basically, I have changed the shims and put camshafts back on and put the plastic cam chain followers (guides) back in.
When I crank the engine over they pop-out. I feel the front one is not sitting right - can anyone help me here?

Hey mate, a pic might help, I can reference my old engine on the bench. I assume you've put the cam chain tensioner back in?

That's because your cranking the motor the wrong way. Try going counter-clockwise which is the way the motor rotates. (look at your top dead centre mark on the rotor and you will see the 8* and 10* BTDC marks to show correct rotation)
You will find the chain pulls downwards on the front which only seats it further into its mounting position.
This is why the rear one mounts from the bottom and can't be removed unless your doing a major rebuild. The chain pulls upward on that side.

When ever doing anything try keeping the rotation in the correct direction, this loads everything the right way to give the correct tolerances and alignments.
