Won't idle when warm
Not ridden my bike for a while due to winter and a huge work project. It had fresh V power fuel put in and I have started it up a few time and taken it for the odd short ride over winter.
Anyway I went to start it now the weather is nice and it started fine as usual. However as it starts to warm up and I put the choke in it will idle for about 15 seconds then slowly start to lower its rpm till the point it cuts out.
It re-starts fine if I twist the throttle and I can keep the bike running fine if I hold the revs with the throttle.
I don't know much about carbs so I was wondering if I could be pointed in the right direction of where to start looking.
Thanks

Re: Won't idle when warm
you could try raising the tickover also
what dose it idle at with the choke on and warm?

Re: Won't idle when warm
I raised the idle all the way to 1500 rpm and it idled for longer (about a minute) but still cut out in the end. I'm going to take the tank off tonight and have a look around at hoses and to see if there is any air or fuel leaks.
I've read about fuel going bad if left, is 4 months long enough to make fresh fuel go off?

Re: Won't idle when warm
yes 4 months is long enough, especially if there is not a lot of fuel in it

Re: Won't idle when warm
Won't idle when hot point to rich mixture - check air filter isn't blocked / blinded with dirt, check the choke isn't sticking on - that happened to me once - freed it off and lubricated all OK after. Worn needles / emulsion jets Shouldnt effect tickover. but wrong float hights or float stuck might

Re: Won't idle when warm
Drained tank and put some fresh fluid in and seems to be working for now.
Need to get it insured and MOT'd and take it for a good ride.
