Agree, from the inlet manifold there should be one hose connected to the fuel tap, and the other to the fuel pump.

I am glad to see everyone is taking part in this little tester.
Would it be possible for someone to lift their tank and have a quick look to see where the fook the hose goes. I know i am being a bit of a pain in the arse but i dont realy want to spend my hard earned cash on a haynes manual just for this little problem. i have had a look at the online manual but as you all know the pics arnt too good.

Hope you all arnt getting too p***ed off with me yet.
Seems like you all like a challenge :D

Dont think so Burty.
So how does your fuel tap work then coz mine definitely works on vacuum?

my uk bike has two vacuum pipes coming from the engine one goes to the pump and one to the petrol tap the other pipe is on the bottom of the tank and that's a vent from the petrol tank cap then the bigger pipe from the tap also goes to the pump,,(this all sounds as clear as mud )
hope this helps

You are absolutely right Burty, I was thinking the wrong way around.

Looks to me like someone stuck another hose on the fuel cap overflow drain thinking they had lost the original... It often drops down in the frame when you remove or lift the tank.

After I rebuilt my engine, I was left with a 'spare' drain hose. Although all the usual drain connections have hoses fitted!!
