Blue paint

I have bought a belly pan from Pyramid Plastic and it should be blue.
Now my painter phoned me and said that the Yamaha blue colour can`t be made. He has all the paint codes and the "paint stick" from Yamaha, but from this year all paints must be water based and then you cant make this one he has tryed to get hold of some of the old thinner based colours from Yamaha, Standox, DuPont but no one has any left...

I have told him to get as close as he gan get. How god can it be?

Anyother with the same problem?

I use spraycan myself! MUCH cheaper....although the neigbours don´t like the smell in the attic!
Seriously...i use a honda color wich where a biatch to find...so i let that company "press" cans for me when i need some.

i used the mg car color the metallic blue sporty model zr its a good match if you look at the foxys diner meet mine is the first one in the pic hope this helps you i dont know how to post pic up sorry

There are a few paint codes listed here - not sure if any of them are the right blue though

I have the paint code, and my paiter have a speciment sheet from Yamaha. We know the colour and ha can easily make it with the old non-water based colour, but you can`t get them anymore because you have to have water-based paint theese days.
With the water-based paint he can`t make it . That meens if I crash you have to paint the bike in another colour

Even with the correct paint code, the blue is a bitch to match as it has to be laid over a silver base in as many layers as it takes to get it right by eye.

TBH, as the belly pan is a fiar distance from other colour, you don't need a perfect colour match.

Any decent painter should be able to get it 'foot away perfect'.

Is the water based paint regulation a Swedish reg or Euro wide? Having lived in Sweden for a while I remember the two most common signs were " It is Forbidden" and " Closed for the Season". So the way to solve your solvent issue is take it and the codes to a country that allows the old paint use. Understanding how the UK drags its feet where it can re Euro regs that would be an obvious place to start.
