500 of your convict dollars for a running engine - I'd rip his arm off.
It'll cost you nearly that for oil and gaskets!
Somethings gone pop! Is there a workshop manual?

Is that serious about the cost of gaskets etc? Cos if so i'll definitely talk to him, just got a rough quote for a shop to do it and they're talking 2-2.5k!!
Considering the motor has almost 80,000kms on it a replacement might be the way to go.
Also pulling the crank out means the motor has to come out first right?
thanks again all!
ps. yeah i think prostitute might be more like it too!!

Not sure about aussie money but, if you are doing a full strip of the engine and breaking the cases I would guess it is going to cost you £100 in gaskets / seals plus £30 of oil and filters. You'll also have to flush the engine with a couple of oil and filter changes in the first 500 miles (another £60).
And that's before you replace any of the bearings (and if it is only the bearings that are shot and you don't need a new crank!!)
