ENGINE MOUNT THREADED?

Post by funnymachine » Sun Jun 08, 2008 10:22 pm

I am trying to get my bottom engine mount bolt out and it is jammed in there solid

I took nut off right hand side

Nut appears to be a locking nut? and frame/casting is threaded?

Took an 8mm allen key to the other end if it pushed it with my foot and snapped the allen key in half

Took another 8mm allen socket to the end of it on a 1/4 inch wrench with a piece of tube as long as my arm and it turned with a loud crack

It went a few turns then locked solid again

It is now so tight it refuses to budge any further and the 8mm allen bolt is starting to strip out of the head

The mount will happily unbolt from the bottom of the engine

Is there some locking mechanism I have messed up?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Mark

it's not threaded. they get full of corrosion. best bet is to get a large hammer and a thin bar and beat the bolt out. soaking overnight in wd40 will help
