Quick question - Size of front sprocket nut?

Post by JL » Tue Oct 28, 2008 1:02 pm

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows what size socket I will need for the nut holding the front sprocket onto the countershaft. My bike's not with me at the moment and I would like to pick up a socket tomorrow, so that I can get my new set on asap. Cheers

:D I'm sure Killers right, Oh and the Suzuki RM 250 circa 1982 is exactly the same size ( Found that out the day before i was due out on mine, stripped the thread off the nut).

Having just fitted new chain and sprockets last night I can confirm it's 32mm. (I have the socket sitting on my desk at the moment - loet me know if you need to borrow it JL.)

Would like to add a related question if I may. The Haynes manual says this nut to be torqued up to 70Nm. That's not a lot. Sure there's the lock washer tangs, but can anyone confirm this torque setting???
Ride Well!
Cheers, Dave.

:D Its what I did the RM nut up to, with some locking gunk on it to make sure it didnt come undone. Survived a year so far.

Thanks chaps, and cheers for the offer Dave, but I picked one up already. Got started today, but my hangover got the better of me. Not sure if I've stuffed up replacing the countershaft seal though, but will post a new topic for that.
