cam chain

Post by mickjmag » Wed Nov 19, 2008 7:33 pm

Hi All,
Have been having issues with the cam chain tensioner sticking and am looking at replacing it, so I figured that I'd check the chain as well while I'm doing it.
Does anyone know of any tricks to removing the chain from the engine or is it as straight forward as the Haynes manual says and is it hard with the engine still in the frame???

Cheers, Mick

can be done with motor in frame. not especially difficult but can cause serious bother if not done correctly

and make sure you don't drop it

Best prevention is to fix some 30 cm of copper wire to the chain befor undoing camwheels and stuff.
(My profile is still as stock as my Trixie is, this might change)
