BTW, (pedant alert), it's a GSX-R 750. SRAD is the acronym for the ram air system. You wouldn't go around telling people how you spent your Sunday morning scrubbing your big, shiny SACS, or the Full Floater you left outside the office, or the enormous red A.S.S. you rode this morning, would you? Well, on the other hand perhaps you might!

Yeah, I know but it is the easiest and commonly accepted way of describing them (as is slightly kinder than saying the fatarse model )

Which is based (probably very loosely) on the RGV500 of that era. I very nearly bought a 600 SRAD before I found the TRX. Like Phuk said, people with TRXs tend to want them, they don't just 'end up' with one.

My mates refer to them as dolphin bottomed bikes??!! I'd been avoiding GSX-R 750 as one of my reguilar rideout mates has an 08 model and I'd wanted to avoid looking at my bike and thinking it was a dinosaur !! That said I could mock his weak headstock as I ride round the outside of him!!

Best I add GSX-R 750s to my TRX eBay searches !!!

I can see its going to be a thought provoking Xmas!!

And you're considering a steel framed parallel twin... Stuff what other people think- buy a bike, ride it. End of.

It's a dinosaur...which will cost you about £7,000 less than his.

If you're over 6 foot like me, the old GSX-R has an advantage on long rides - assuming you left the single seat cowl at home, you can sit on the pillion seat and stretch your legs out a bit. Not recommended while roundabout surfing though! It also has a lot more wind protection than a late-model GSX-R.

Ideally, get a TRX and a GSX-R track bike. But you might find yourself tempted to stick the lights back on the GSX-R and get some insurance...

I'm sure I'm preaching to the converted, but my experience is that with bikes, unless you're talking about how fast they can go down a straight, it's 95% rider and 5% bike. So with the same rider the new GSXR would probably go quicker round the same track, but with two different riders it will almost always be down to who is going quicker on the day, and not which bike is better. The proof is the complete inability of so many people to pass my TRX on trackdays, despite my complete lack of talent, horsepower and Diablo Supercorsas.
