Swinging arm bearings

Hello everybody,
I'm going to replace my swinging arm bearings as there's slight play in them. Will use my paddock stand to initially get the back wheel in the air then would it be advisable to support the bike on axle stands positioned under the exhausts,under the engine then remove the stand. Would the weight of the bike damage the exhausts? Don't really want to do this and have a d'oh moment. Cheers.

Might be ok on the exhausts but not sure I would risk it ? I have a hefty towing strap which I put under the seat unit & hoist it up on my engine pulley for stuff like this but appreciate you may not have access to similar stuff ?

I would have thought the exhausts will get in the way a bit for what you're about to do. I would be tempted to raise the rear as high as needed to place an axle stand either side of the bike with a sturdy plank of wood running across them under the engine then lower it on to that. Should stop it from falling sidways but don't sue me if it does !

Cheers matey, yeah i'll put the wood under the engine and put an axle stand on each side, don't you just wish more bikes came with main stands. Makes life so much easier.

Would that be so you could take it off to save weight then?? Axle stands and lump of wood under frame after getting height required, take the exhausts off anyway to get more room to work on.
