the valve is more a flame trap than anything else , there should be one on the carb breather as well

It`s an unnecessary if you`ve done the FCR conversion,I just left mine open to atmosphere after I fitted the FCR`s.
Although,I did put some chain lube down it to protect the frame from rot,I`ll maybe put a short piece of silicon hose on it and block the end off at some time in the future.
G Beale`s correct it goes to the underside of the stock airbox,possibly as a drain,which to be honest was never a very clever idea!
Airbox condensation being routed into a steel frame,recipe for insidious rot if you ask me.
Even if NOTHING is connected to it there`s no difference whatsoever to how the bike will run.
Oh and those valve/thingys that folk are mentioning?
Yep,they`re to check any ignition of fuel/air mixture,instead of it blowing flames out the open ends of the tubes.The resulting small explosion takes place inside the small chambers.
An over-the-top Japanese safety feature to be honest.There`s actually THREE on a stock bike,one from each carb and the one being spoken about in this thread.
ALL of them are just a safety feature nothing more.You could use open tubes as long as they were routed away down to the underside of the bike,away from the general area of fuel.

The one on my import is routed to the bottom of the bike...however it has a plug in the end of it so I guess it is pointless being diverted down there then??
Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.
Oversteer - when you hit the fence with the rear of the bike.
Horsepower - how fast you hit the fence.
Torque - how far you take the fence with you.
