anyone used a alternative horn ? are those snail ones any good ? i want somthing very loud and offensive but simple to install and wont look to out of place.......

the nexxt time some mupity old geet pulls out on me i can make his ears bleed

I've got a loud as feck steibel horn on my ST but that need relays as it draws a fair bit of power.

looks good the snail ones claim to be 130db so if they arent telling porkys they should be louder than that one phuk guess ill have to get em and find out for meself orginal one has stopped working so want to put another one on really

I had a doddery old couple pull out on me on the A361 on sunday and to be honest trying to use the horn was the last thing on my mind as i did a body swerve round the eejit. I just caught his mirror with my elbow.

depends how far away they measure it. My steibel has an addiitonal compressor and hi low horns and isn't as loud as 130db (that really is fecking loud - think jumbo jet on full chat from about 10 feet!!)

but as the old bloke said , unless you condition yourself to use the horn (I do as i commute into central london a fair bit) it's not instinctive to use it

plenty of time rideing around with students in tow means the horn is very instinctive for me to use

I mounted a pair of Hella Air Horns on mine.
I run the original wires from the old horn down to the space under the pillion seat, then mounted the compressor in that space, run clear hose from the compressor to the 2 brackets that brace the fairing out from the frame near where your knees would be when riding, and mounted the horn trumpets on there using zip ties,so as to dismantle the whole thing if I need to.
It reads a bit complicated, but it is dead easy to do and the horn is instant even though there is probably a metre from the compressor to the trumpets.
I will shortly go and take a picture of the setup with the trumpets.(maybe.)
And I may add,they certainly get those dozy pricks who would try and kill me, their attention.

I got a very loud horn from nippy normans - BMW spares supplier, it is a straight bolt on. 105db I think, any way a lot better that the standard puny horn. It used to be more effective to rev the engine. Now a quick blast is enough to wake / terrify any dozy driver who is about to pull out in front of me

I had a set of fiamm horns on my old Guzzi. Now they were LOUD!
Wouldn't mind putting one on the TRX (can't seem to find them but - only the cheap copies)
