Erratic power.1st gear feels like 3rd once you move off

Ok,got the bike on the road finally after new cam chain fitted etc. When you pull away you have to rev like fek to stop a stall and 1st feels like 3rd.When riding there is a rush of power then a misfire/splutter and no power .Then its close the throttle on approaching a car in front .Open it out and the powers just not there like its ran dry of fuel.Then cruising it feels like its brrrrrrp brrrrrrrp then a rush of clean power again then bvrrrrrrp all with the throttle held steady.WTF is going wrong? I noticed the rubber fuel pipe to the pump leaks fuel when u push it as i forgot the jubilee clip when reassembling the fuel tank after painting.Could the line be sucking in air??.I doubt that though.Heeeeelp!!!! btw whats the correct fuel tap setting on the trx? vertical horizontal or pointing down??.Ps fuel is months old.possibly shit in fuel? Fuel filter needing replaced?

Assuming it ran OK before and you have fitted the CC correctly, it sounds like you haven't reconnected the vacuum hoses correctly? Or have a kink in the pipes.

The correct posiiton for the fuel tap is on - pointing down

i'll check em .Theres also just no power when u move off .idles fine though. The fuel cap is not a good fit and i have washed the bike a lot.Could it be water in the fuel??

Sounds more and more like a vacuum problem.

Of course it could be something else but I'd tick off the obvious as it can manifest itself in completely diferent ways.

I once forgot to connect the vacuum pipe and it ran fine for about 20 miles and then completely died (locking the back wheel in the process!). And on another I managed to kink the pipe - felt as if it was constantly running out of fuel

After putting in a redex industrial strength additive i used once before on my vw jeta and a good burnout its running like a bitch now.Wohoooo!!!
