Trying to get the rear indicators off..........

Bought a set of indicators to replace the monsters on the TRX. Only trouble is the 10mm flanged nuts that hold the indicators to the backing plate have seized solid (probably from 13 years of not being touched). Luckily the wires do not go thru the stem. Unfortunately both nuts are now rounded from me trying multiple ways of getting the f%$#ers off. Bit of a squeeze to get a grinder in there to get rid of the nuts. Dremel and a cutting wheel might be the answer, I think?

After much persistance and a lot of swearing they finally came off. Ended up turning the main body of the indicator til it came off that knurled bronze/brass spigot, then used a set of multi-grips on the outside for the spigot and converted a 10mm allen key socket into a 6-point short socket with a long bar to use as leverage. Gave a few hard twists and hey presto!

Got the indicators on, BUT, looking at the wiring in the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual, black wire seems to be - on both front and rear and + seems to be both the green wire and the brown wire.
I always thought black wire was - and coloured wire or black wire with white stripe was +, on these indicators the black wire has a definite "+". As you can guess I'm just a tad confused. I've left them on but not wired up. I'll use hand signals for a few days. If I get pulled over I'll just say the relay isn't working and will get one as soon as possible. Back at work on Tuesday, and a mate at work is a bit of a whizz with auto electrics and has a multi meter, so he'll be able to determine what wires are + and -. Other than that, pretty happy! :mrgreen:

BTW Mince those nut splitters look the trick. Must try and get one!

Multi meter?
Just flash the wires across your tongue with the ignition on and the indicator switch flicked to whichever side you`re testing.
Put your hand or a finger on the negative battery terminal and hey presto the positive wire will soon be found.
DO NOT attempt if fitted with a pacemaker Bob.

Is that the same as putting your tongue on one of those rectangular 9V batteries? or is it a tad more extreme?
