Clutch Adjustment (Warning: Numpty Question)

On my new TRX, the clutch doesn't seem to engage until fairly late in the lever's travel, which kind of throws me a bit, as I'm used to the clutch engaging earlier on my other bike (and my older bikes).

Thing is, I can't remember which way to adjust the cable to get the clutch to engage earlier in the lever's travel.

You need less slack on the cable but DO NOT take up all the slack, you must have some free cable or you`ll burn your clutch out.
If the issue is with the clutch itself you`ll not make any difference by adjusting the cable anyway.

And remember, for the adjuster at the lever ... never have the slot in the screw and the slot in the locking nut aligned (stops the cable popping out) and preferably have the slot in the screw at the bottom (stops rain getting in)

1) if there are no issues with the clutchs condition then make the major adjustment at the engine end first.
2) minor adjustment at the lever is next, and as mince says leave some freeplay in the cable.
3) aftermarket cam adjust levers are available for the trx.
They are common with many 90s yamaha.
Thundercat 600 and fzr400 i think.
