HELP PLEASE!! Kent cams URGENT!

Before they slotted the wheels and just bolted on the kentcams you can see that i got a really nice tourque increase in low...also some more HP of cource....but the top went down ~ 6 hp...
They scratched their head before calling me and went a tooth both back and forth and the result where then 72HP wich is 12HP less than with original cams so....

Then they slotted the sprockets and got 82HP at best....and i had 84HP with the standard cams....non ported. OK...different day....temp etc.
The nice tourque was then gone also.....

Well, went down in mainjet yesterday as the bike spat sot!!
Pushed down the lens of a somewhat old digicam and took a photo of the porting made.....any comments?? IMHO it looks....not very smooth!!

Is smooth best?

Sometimes it is better to have a rough surface to create turbulence and better combustion.

When porting a ZX-7R, for instance, this is often done - decrease the size of the inlet tract (too big as stock) to increase the flow rate and leave a very rough pitted surface to create turbulence. Gives better fuel mixing and more efficient combustion.

Yes, heard this from other forum also! Will check the exhaust port...those should be smooth as baby bottom!

When my head was flowed and ported it was completely smooth. Not saying that's right and that your is wrong but I made bhp.

it should be smooth but not polished its hard to tell by the pics if its good or bad. they might of removed to much material if the outlet ports are as small as some say it could be choking the engine

If the inlet ports are too smooth then the fuel "falls out" of the airstream cos there's little turbulance to suspend it.............having said that it looks like Mr Tuner used his kitchen carving knife on your ports :shock:

Yup, and i confronted him in a mail and the respons was.....word by word:

I said it looked like someone dropped a DREMEL at full speed in there!!!
I will get much better photos when i get camera....also on the exhaust port!!

Killer.....I think if it was mine I'd be inclined to start with another standard, maybe mildly polished head and fit the Kent's to it with slotted camwheels. I'd also be asking Mr Dremel to pay for the other head ..........

I know that this is a very old thread but.... what was the outcome?

What was the cause of all the power you lost?

Were the cams massively retarded or the valves failing to seal properly?

Why did the inlet porting look so butchered? I know you only asked for a mild port clean up.Can it really be a trick of the light in the photo?

I know you have much more power now.I'm really interested to hear how the situation was recovered.
Problems like this are notoriously difficult diagnose via forums.
