Speedo drive has seized can these be repared
The shaft that the cable fits to has seized it seems

Unusual.
The wheel turns a tab which turns the cog gear in the speedo drive which turns a worm gear which turns the cable.
I have taken them apart before.
Best bet is clean out all the grease n crap and check theres not a stone jamming it up.
If this doesnt do it, probably easiest to get a replacement. Theres one on ebay now, or put a post in the wanted section on here.

got the cog gear out with a little work but the worm gear is also seized so picked up one from the local wrecker

theres a bike on eblag with the same issue at the moment, reading this makes me feel more at ease aboot a possible purchase

later bikes have a nylon gearset in the speedo drive, earlier ones are steel. My nylon gears melted so i got the steel one from a wrecker haven't had an issue since. I think I mucked up the mounting tab pos'n when I re-assembled the wheel after fitting new bearings which caused the gears to be pressed together too tight.
