I believe the Katana battery is made by Yuasa as well?

I've also used one of these in my Suzuki GSX550 (very appropriate eh?) & found them to be good
& long lasting. (Have had nearly 4 years from one of these too)

Sorry for the slow response.
As it happens I only fitted the battery today (it's for my customised track bike project).

The battery is nice and light. It's a bit smaller than the stock battery but comes with some plastic blocks to pad it out. I made a custom battery tray for mine but I'm sure you could make it fit snuggly in the stock battery tray.
It has 290CCA stamped on it.
It had been sitting in my shed for two months. I never charged it, but when I tested it with my multimeter today it showed about 13.4 Volts.
After I connected it, the starter motor turned over faster than it ever has on my other TRXs. I had to crank it for awhile as this was the first start after a rebuild and new carb installation, it had no discernible loss of power.

In summary, I am very impressed with the battery and will be buying more of them for my other bikes as they become due.

I dont have the stock battery tray anymore, it has to fit under the seat hump (solo seat). I'm after a battery no bigger than W:150mm x H:100 x D:83mm but can't bring myself to spend big bucks on the antigravity battery.
Sounds like the SSB is the way to go.

Never having done this I cant attest to whether it works or not ... But take battery out and drop it from about 10to 12 inches so it lands flat on the bottom and apparently gives the insides a good shake up and you get a bit more life out of it after a good charge... Maybe just gibberish but worth a go before spending?

Bit late in to this, but as an aside, apparently if you want to check if a AA or AAA battery is buggered, drop it... negative end, on to a hard surface, and if it bounces its flat ,if it does not bounce it is still alive.

I usually throw it as far as I can Ash and if it comes back , I just throw it harder next time .
Not my fault if they don't want to believe me that its buggered.

I have just bought a gel battery, was very tempted by a lithium ion but reviews / experiences too mixed for my liking, hopefully next time I need a battery it will all be a bit clearer weight saving would have been brillliant + higher cranking power - I alos would have had to buy another battery charger - oh well

Lithium ion batteries are the ones to get not just std lithium which can be suspect and a number of people have had them fail after a few months.
I purchased my L / ion battery and it was sitting in the cupboard for around 8mtha before I put it in the bike. Cranked over straight away with plenty of charge.
Each time I go into the ignition program it gives you a voltage output reading and it is still 14v after 7mths of riding.
