How long has the bike had the kit in it? Was it tuned after they were put in? The main diff I found wasn't the fact that the kit was put in, it was mainly the tuning as out of factory these things run very very rich. (Like the juice ;-) ) Not to mention my needles were worn and the tubes were ovalled out. I will check the DynoKit packet contents, think I still got it all in the garage....

Okee Dokee.. One point to Phuk 8)

DynoJet contents: main jets, main jet o'rings, fuel needle, washer and e-clips.

My emulsion tubes must of been ordered as an extra when it was tuned, I had just assumed that it came with the kit.

But yeah, order in some emulsion tubes, have it tuned by someone that you know is good at it and have them check the condition of the rest of the parts for wear.

Emulsion tubes are not included in a Dynojet-kit (i sell 'm so i need to know)
It's standard tubes with Dynojet needles. (normaly the tubes get replaced
when a kit goes in)

Ok guys!
Thanks for the help..

Regarding when it was dynojetd and if it was retuned… I don't have a clue…
My bike was an ex Harris Performance bike so I suppose everything was done properly?

But…the engine has been changed, the original engine was raced and the previous owner had problems with the engine and replaced it for another one with less miles, know this is true cause I saw the engine in his shed and all the numbers matched…

So, probably my plan of action will be:

Get emulsion tubes
Strip the carbs, clean it and change the emulsion tubes.
Check air filter and replace or clean
Set the carbs properly

Should do the job!

OK, no need to keep telling me I'm right, from now on in we'll just assume that

if the bike was set up fro a race engine and jetted accordingly, there is every chance it will be jetted incorrectly for a standard lump. Combine this with worn tubes and you'll have the answer.

best bet is to rejet to standard (144 IIRC) and replace tubes and tinker from there on in

If think they actually might be 142.5 standard, but correct me if I'm wrong. That's what it says in the Haynes manual and on my Factory Pro emulsion tube and Jet kit which arrived yesterday.

Gotta do it very soon. Thing's running like a dog down low - very flat - above 3 and a half to 4, it picks up and runs normally. Very frustrating! plus its starting to get cool here, at least in the mornings, and I'm running Motul 5100 15W50 with only 12kms to work,so it's not really warming up to any degree. Bought some 10W40 today and will put it in plus some new plugs on the weekend, before it goes in for the jet kit. Hopefully its not something extra like the clutch or the coils going :(

Hi,

I'm just getting everything ready to do the same job - Dynojet kit, filter, emulsion tubes...

Where did you get your tubes from? I tried my local Yamaha dealer and drew a blank. The man on the phone asked "is it a pipe or something?" .

I did read somewhere (on here?) that there is a Factory Pro dealer in the UK. I've tried Dynojet but they cannot help me without a part number - anybody help there?

Anyway, good luck with the work - a "Step by step" guide would be great!!

"emulsion tube" is a quite old name for the same thing....

"Needle jet" should everyone although 20 years old get...and the thing in there is the jet needle... 8)

Emulsion tubes, needle jets, 1-1/4" long brass tubes about 3/8" diameter - I tried it all. I'm going to try again in the morning - I might be able to speak to a mechanic!

Any idea of the correct part number for the tubes (needle jets)??

Thanks,

Richard
