Do I understand it right, that it seem like the problem shifts from left to right cylinder? And it's below freezing point? You might have some small amounts of water in the fuel/carbs, and when the cold air is drawn through the carbs, either it freezes, or the water droplets just blocks the fuel. Then You stop the engine, and the ize melts, or the droplet moves, and then when You start, it's the other cylinder. A longshot, but that would be a typical Scandinavian problem... Try to put some carb cleaning in the tank (quite a lot), this will mix with the water, and in theory allow the water to come out the normal way, as a doctor would say...
