baaa... baaaa....

I still reckon it's not just the battery - if I'm reading the original post correctly, there was the first (unsuccessful) attempt to start, then an 'audible click' on the second attempt...

Surely, if a battery is strong enough to turn the motor over after a 2 week layover, it would put up more of a fight than just going 'click' before completely closing down ..??

I still reckon it's a fuse somewhere, and Burty's absolutely correct in saying that fuses don't always look blown - I have had a couple that have simply cracked through fatigue however it's occurred...

Fuses ... fuses ...

spassbremser! Now translate that,it's my second favorite German word. Klugscheisser is the nr 1. which suits me quite right...

If a fuse was blown, I don't think the solenoid would still go 'click'. Then there's just not enough juice to turn the starter, and that could very well be the, *drums*, battery. Or bad connections. but battery sounds more like it, it had enough juice for the first attempt, but that drained the last out of it, and then it failed.

Hmm well as the lights no longer work and nor does the starter it would have to be the main fuse. Nah..................battery.

hardyhardyharrr..

We've all had the experience of a flattening battery ... then when it gives up on the last feeble rotation it can manage the solenoid kicks in to save its face ...

Sounds like:

wuuUUuuhh..wuuUUuh..wuUuh....wuh ...wwww "oh f*ck it's flat!" clickettyclickettyclickettyclclclclclc...

Not:

Whirrrr woppety woppety woppety cough chokey splutter... *press starter again*... "click"... *insert the sound of silence here* ....

Naaah...

It's christmas... besides which you could always jump start it from the car battery just to check it's not a fuse, :?

FWIW, I'm with Greg. Flat battery is a sympton not the cause.

I'd go with fecked starter relay

I haven't had enough of a poke in the TRXs electrics to be definitive here, but even if the starter relay was bolloxed, surely the rest of the electrics would still work..?

My only experience of a total electrical failure was on my 950S and that was due to a connection ferrule on the high-current cable to the starter relay corroding. ALL of the bikes electrical supplies came from that cable... turned out to be a bit of a weak point which I found after a huge fekkin disassembly of bodywork, tanks etc.,

:D Over 18 months ago I had the dreaded click. I was going to A BSB round at Donnington, but ended up back at the bike show at P'boro show ground to buy a new battery.(RAC got the bike going after a refuel). As I said in my post, check that it holds a charge, batteries have a finite life, and eventually will not hold a charge.
