What is regarded as high KLM for the trx850?

All these high milers / km`s seem to be in the land of sun and worried sheep.

Mine`s only got around 25,000 miles on it (1996 vintage and also a black model) but then the UK is a tiny place compared to Australia. Come on UK owners and members who has the highest mileage TRX here?

One with 68,500 kms and the other with 108,000 kms. The latter motor is now on the workbench for a rebuild in due course.

I fully expect 200,000km out of the bike (original untouched motor) but always in the back of my mind is the motor might do a hand-grenade. BTW the last 70,000 have been using E10 (ethanol fuel) almost exclusively, the motor runs better with it (maybe cause it's running rich). Nothing seems to have dissolved and nothing leaks.

Akershirly, the 29,000 mile bike is on it's second engine (when the speedo was reading 25k I put in a 9k engine) so it's probably done less than 15,000 miles - even when you take into acoount all of the track work it has done with the speedo disconnected.

And Duh - miles don't racked up on the dyno

I`m afraid there are no photo`s of my TRX, I don`t own a camera, not even got one on my 11 year old mobile!
Dawn only takes photo`s of my wee Skorpion, she hates the TRX for it`s ass numbing properties.
Mind, once the TRX is exactly as I want her (for now), I`ll twist her arm to take photos and post them up.

Mine is in the workshop at the moment. Has 85000kms on it and I am really keen to make it as good as possible. Cosmetically it is near perfect, brakes, chain, sprockets etc all due at once. Suspension needs work at both ends. Before I commenced I wanted to know the real status of the engine. My mechanic reports that compression is well within spec. Valve clearances still spot on. Timing chain will be replaced and a number of coolant hoses also replaced. Pretty happy with that and now confident to spend the money on the rest of this lovely machine.

Mines (hang on, I'll have a look) 81000.
So far it has had the shims done twice, 1 new battery, several tyres, new chain and sprockets (twice) Brake pads once,
gets ridden to work more than it gets ridden on the highway.
Oil and filter changed every 5000ks,
Diesel oil used since day 1, (that should start another oil thread.)
The bike uses no oil between changes.
Transmission ends.

180,500km passed this week. I'll keep updating every 10,000km or so.
Rattle fixed so now runs smooth as it ever did.
400km out of a tank (to reserve). Once it gets under about 360km I'll change the jets again.
Very happy with the bike.

wow brenyw 18000ks dam impressive, i thought mine was high with 12800ks, and 400ks out of a tank

do you ever rev it over 3000rpm

Mostly freeway running, each day approx 1/3rd of the trip is at 75mph (4000 revs), 1/3rd at 40mph, the rest 50-60mph. getting better economy since i fixed the rattle, now i don't have to avoid the 2500-3000 rev rattle-zone...

Just passed 185000km, bikes running better than ever (just run-in I think). Got 476km out of the last tank but was running on fumes as I went to the petrol station. I am thinking the new needles and jets have worn a little and improved the mixture. Plus it's been cold (5-10 deg C the last few weeks).
