Sparkplug cap into cylinder......

No need to pull the engine out, You would only need to take the cylinder head off. Taking it all off, and putting it back again, would be doable in about 6-8 hours for a first-timer with some basic experiences, unless something un-expected happens (which of course will happen, so why call it unexpected...). You'd need an extra long allenkey ("fÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¶rlÃƒÆ’Ã‚Â¤ngd insexhylsa", 6 mm me thinks?) for the cylinder head bolts, and a torquewrench for tightening the head bolts, except for that, standard tools will do fine.

Soooooo, I still reckon if you get a thin welding rod - the brass kind, fold the end of it back on itself with a little piece of cotton cloth wedged in it, cover this in sticky grease or maybe sticky chain lube then go fishing

Dont use engine oil, baby oil or "boy lube", these are all too thin and slippery to be effective

Nope. no way....havenÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´t got any "boy lube" though....you reckon that would work!?

No, itÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´s tearing it or get help from a friend and turn the bugger upside down!
Will stop at the Yam workshop and see if i can get a tech to give some tips....soon one month without riding....kinda glad itÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´s raining cats+dogs....worst June since starting readings late 19th century......

Digital camera with a flash, put it on manual focus for right distance, hold it 6" away from the hole and take a picture.

Flash should provide enough light down the hole and you should be able to see whats going on down there in order to retrieve the damn thing.

Hoover with a bit of fuel hose gaffer taped to the end will suck up anything like this in a hurry.

I want to have a camera like that! So far I haven't seen anyone though... The piston is leaning forward, the cylinder is 89 mm wide, peeking in through a hole that's about 17 mm wide from a distance of 150 mms, what more information would a camera shot give compared to take a peek by Yourself?

And while I am being grumpy, KW, spend more time trying to fish for the cap than You spend discussing it on the internet. You'd probably had it out long ago...

Ahh... didnt realise it had gone as far down as the piston crown.

Still recon there's a good chance by attaching a fuel pipe to the vacuum though.

Well, i guess itÃƒâ€šÃ‚Â´s time for an update here.
The fekkin little bugger is out, my mates where all busy....go figure...so i had to hold the head with one hand and fish out the cap with the other....probably kodak moment!

Anyway, with my slotted wheel and tired mind i guess i managed to set the exhaust cam a tad wrong so i had no comp and it was shooting fire into the downpipes....they where HOT after just 5 sec.

Will set timing again....and right on saturday...with some preparing on friday.
As HansJ said on Swedish forum, learning a lot the hard way....and why not!?
