whats the blue plug do? HEEEEEELLLLLPPPP

Post by bagmaker » Sat Mar 29, 2014 9:43 am

Replacing my wiring loom. Got a second hand one from a '95 model, mine is a '96 (maybe '97). Edit, Australian model, silver frame
There is a different plug arrangement, anyone got experience??

(under the tank)
on the later model, there is a 3 pin flat plug junction, a "sky blue" wire goes to the starter interupt thing (I am assuming this is the neutral light on the dash, its not working)
a yellow wire tees to the headlight and turn indicator plug and to the left handlebar switch assy
a dark green wire tees to the headlight and turn indicator plug and the left handlebar switch assy AND the rear indicator (right side)
With this plug DISCONNECTED I am getting rear turn indicators OK but no high beam or neutral dash lights.

On the earlier loom there is no plug to match this one above but a spare BLUE colored plug. This plug has 6 smaller pins, one pin has no wire connected.
Wiring color is Black (blue stripe) Yellow, red (blue stripe) blue and dk green.
I cannot find this plug on any wiring diagram that I have

WTF do I do with it? Do I need to meggar every connection to see where the wires go? (OMG)
there are only 3 types of people in the whole world
those who can count
and those who cannot

It is hard to tell without having a look on the stuff. But keep in mind, on Japanese models the headlight is always on. You can't switch it off. The switch on the left handlebar is used for emergency lights (indicators L + R). I think you cant use a Japanse spec loom with EU model handlebar switches and vice versa.
Are Australian models Japanese or EU spec?

On the european bikes the blue plug has only three wires and it serves the instrument panel warning lights i think.
