Engine running temperature

As a new TRX owner can you tell me if it's normal for the engine to run cool? My 1998 bike hardly moves off 60 degrees even if worked fairly hard. I believe the thermostat should open at around 80 degrees?. If I let it tick over the temperature on the gauge will climb so I'm sure it's not a gauge fault. Before I embark on a thermostat replacement I'd like to be sure my bike's cool running isn't normal. Advice appreciated. Thanks.

Totally normal, mine only really gets above the stop in traffic or on properly warm (25C+) days. The fan apparently doesn't come on until the needle's almost off the clock at 100C so don't worry about that not working either

Yes I concur,
normal riding it sits at about 60
riding in the city, stop start gets up to 80
stuck in traffic it can climb to 100. the fan kicks in about 100ish and cools it to about 80 and the fan switches off
