You might know that I have an allegedly tuned TRX "Boost", complete with Dynajet kit, MSR (?) fork re-work , Ohlins rear shock and a full Akra 2:1.
Now, the time has come to sell this beastie, but I remember PHuK saying that it probably wouldn't sell for much more with the bits on, so I'm thinking about stripping them off for my own bike (much better to build one rather than buy one eh?). Which brings me to the rear unit. It has the Ohlins sticker on it, but it looks exactly the same as the OE shock... I'd heard this was the case, but does anyone know for sure..?? Is there any giveaway mark on the Ohlins that sets it apart from the Yamaha unit?

The real stuff will probably read "Öhlins" on some other places as well, not just that one sticker. The Ohlin's will also have the upper "spring rate adjuster" in gold(ish) color and might have a second remote adjuster.
They do however share the yellow colored spring, which is a marketing trick from Yamaha

Ohlins brand their springs and you should also be able to find the spring rate
Also, proper kit has a plastic knob on the adjuster as opposed to the metal one used on the standard stuff

Will have to check mine as it says Ohlins but have no idea if it's real or not..

Looks like a standard Yamaha unit to me.Mine has the plastic adjuster as well.
