led flasher/indicators

So. I have decided to change to led indicators and obviously they flash far too fast. I have tried putting some resistors in to reduce them but didn't seem to work (ie nothing) then someone mentioned putting a proper indicator in line under the seat out of the way, but that didn't work either. So next on the trial and error list is a flashed relay off of ebay. But where abouts is the relay on the bike?

It's in front of the battery box, secured with a plastic hook type thing.

I managed to get to mine through the side of the frame by the petrol tap.

Did the job but my tiny led indicators are crap on a bright sunny day.

Jaycar here in Oz is a electronics outlet(maybe find a similar outlet in the U.K.) that have 2 pin led flasher units for $15.. I bought one off ebay to start and it didn't work.

Are they a universal type of fitment ?

I don't think so.

Search yamaha or trx850 led indicator relay and check the connector type against yours.

Yes just 2 separate female blade terminals on the wiring harness so just make sure you get a generic 2 pin led flasher unit..

LED lights will only work in one direction current wise lads, not like a bulb where the filament will glow whichever way the current is flowing, so if your new LED illumination dosent work the first time, turn the contacts around.
Learnt the hard way.

Got a relay the other day, was an easy simple fit and worked perfectly thanks for the help....
