hi guys, new to the forum, dont own a TRX, but my mate does and he isnt very computer savvy so im asking on his behalf,

ok so he has a TRX850 (dahh) and he is having a problem with it starting, when the bike is cold it wont start, as in the whole bike is cold, first thing in the morning, but if its been sitting in the sun all day it will start,

ive tried doing research but no-one seems to be able to give me a defiant answer, we suspect its the CDi unit.

any help ?

Cheers
Ben

How are the plugs? Do you get good spark? Then the carbs, are they good? Is the choke circuit working properly? Is there fuel making it past the float valves when the bike is off? How are the valve clearances? When were they last checked? How does it run when warmed up?

plugs are fine, getting fuel not a problem, carbs are clean, choke is fine, havent checked the valves, and dont think they have been done. runs like a absolute dream when its going,

Hi bd-850!

Most likely the valve clearances are too tight - what you describe is a typical effect when they are.
