Clutch problems

My TRX clutch releases in the first few deg of lever travel after the cable slack has been taken up.
All of the other bikes in my shed don't release until the lever is almost back to the handlebar.
This is very frustrating to ride.
I have just replaced the clutch plates and springs with an EBC SRC009 kit and it made no difference.
This kit is said to have stronger springs than stock.
There was no appreciable sign of wear and no damage to the original plates.
The actuator shaft is positioned so that there is minimal slack in the pull rod connection.
The actuator arm is positioned on the shaft so that the marks align.
Only a very small rotation of the shaft is required for the clutch to release once the pull rod is engaged.
The lower cable adjuster is set approx midway, the upper adjuster set for a few deg of slack lever travel.

Any suggestions as to what may be causing this, it is pissing me off.

Err, I honestly think you should adjust the clutches of all of the other bikes in your shed instead of the TRX.

Agreed, it would be the other bikes I would be worried about.

OK, how far in do you have to pull the clutch lever on your TRX for the clutch to release?
What about any other bikes you have or have ridden?

If my clutch released any earlier it would be permanently slipping.

Bit more freeplay in cable might help. Does'nt sound like anything is wrong though.

Clutch cable freeplay should be 10 to 15mm. I prefer mine closer to 10mm. Any lever pull after that and the clutch will start being actuated.
As long as the cable freeplay is set correctly then the clutch cannot be permanently slipping unless there is another issue.

Having cable freeplay at the short end of specification, feels better to me as I prefer the more positive lever feel. I find it also gives me better control when I need to feather the clutch.
But this is just my preference.
