Removing the crank once again from the motor and I'm wondering if I can leave the clutch basket on the gearbox shaft??
I know the rotor on the crank has to come off so I can access the balance shafts .
I will only need to remove the crank for balancing and then placing straight back in so I'm keen to know if this is possible or more to the point practible .

I have a feeling there may be a bearing retaining plate that spans the split line in the casings?

Not certain about this but could check leafing through the pdf manual?

Cheers Dimwitty,
Had the same thought yesterday and I think it is the j shaped retaining plate held by 3 bolts that holds the shift shaft and spring Inplace that rotates the drum in the gearbox.
