Ignition/coils/plugs
Have an ignition question. Everything turns over. Have sourced form here a coil to go with the good coil i had. Engine wont start. Have replaced both plugs so both of those are good. Both coils have correct primary and secondary resistance. I have 12v to the leads that connect to coil. Plug caps have correct resistance too. I get an irregular spark to one plug and no spark from the other. Where should i be looking? Coils?

EXAMPLE...
If no.1 has a good spark and no.2 intermittent, try swapping the coil signal feeds and see if you have a good spark on No2 other and no.1 is now intermittent.
This is how you will determine if it's the coils or if it's a signal issue further down the food chain. (ECU or voltage issue from the battery.
Maybe do a voltage check on your battery first. to see if you have consistent power.

Have swapped over the leads to the coils and it reversed the spark... now have intermittent on the other side and none on the one that originally had a spark. Suggests coils ok? Pick up coil shows correct resistance, as does the the stator.. side stand switch is good as is neutral... Have traced wires from coils .. one side goes back to ecu and the other goes to the cut out relay and the earth lead is good. All wires show a constant on multimeter from coil end to their respective terminal block ends . Now confused .. as dont understand how only 1 side can be firing intermittently and the other not at all. Is there a test i can do to see if ecu /cut out relay are functioning correctly (dont have access to a known good)
Battery was a possible so took the one out the van and have tried that and same result

good call guys ....Im in Uk - west sussex if there is a generous soul near horsham that would loan some working bits so i can figure which needs replacing
