Hi chaps

Had a few questions for the YZF 750 front end owners, I want to make sure my setup is correct:

Bearings are 80/20 (or 22 - memory faillure here)
Spacers: 1inch spacer on one side and speedo drive the other

Is the above what you have also? Do you you guys put washers between the caliper and the mount to adjust to the disc?

Are you using a standard TRX front wheel in the YZF forks then Adrien?

Yes sorry, should have specified, the wheel is yzf750

Not sure about the bearing number. The spacer and speedo is correct.

OK, i'm a bit clearer now - but why do you need to space off the caliper if you are are using YZF750 parts? I'm building a YZF750 endurance rep at the moment so if you need spacer measurements for anything now is a good time to ask as i've just bench built all the components at the moment

Yes I had to use a 2mm shim between the calliper and the fork mount on my r1 forks using the std trx wheel.
Easiest way is to check the hub width of a yzf 750 front wheel and the Trx wheel. ( disc offset is the same on both bikes but some 320mm discs are anywhere from 6mm to 4mm thick new so that's why it is best to get a hub width.
I had to do the same with the R6 bits I was looking at last week too. The 05 R6 front wheel is the same as the trx from disc centre to disc centre but runs a 310mm disc ..

And i don't think you can't simply just place yzf bearings into a trx wheel to accommodate the larger yzf axle .

At least you can supply all the base measurements so he can nut it out.


I might mention,
My front end was originally set up to accommodate a trx wheel, hence the 2mm spacer, but when I was running the xjr1200 magnesium wheel, I had to remove the 2mm calliper spacer plus remove 2.5mm from each calliper to get it mounted due to an even wider hub width than a yzf.
The fellow who owns the xjr1200 wheel now has machined out the hub to fit bearings to suit his ZZR1100 .

2nd hand parts , you never really know what your in for until you check all those base measurements..

On having a quick look Drix, I have a 1mm thick washer between the caliper and the fork lower.
The gold spots will fit and run no probs....with a 1mm gap to the disc on the inside , but with a 3mm gap on the outer , bring the caliper over the one mm and you will be right.

Ok so that confirms my thoughts on the washer solution for my silver spot callipers and it seems that my wheel spindle spacer/speedo are correct too.

The only uncertainty I have now is the wheel bearings… the ones currently fitted are 80/20 and the new ones I got for a YZF750 are 60/20.

FYI, the front end is full YZF750… Forks are fully adjustable model, front wheel was a purple one which came with discs, speedo driver from eBay and wheel spacer. (All parts from forum members here except for the speedo). Only non YZF item are the silver spots.

I have exactly the same setup; fully adjustable '96 YZF forks, including speedo drive and silver spots.
I've not used any spacers (for the brakes) though.

Agreed, me too.

May have to do with the disc manufacturer.
Std Yzf750 disc is 10.5mm offset and the disc has a thickness of 5mm.
Some aftermarket disc list an offset of 10mm and 320mm discs purchased for xjr1200 are cheaper and only 4mm thick.
You may find with the silver spots fitted to later model xjr's and FZ yamahas they use a 4mm disc and the yzf with gold spots a 5mm disc.
But in saying that you think they would calculate the offset to the centre of the disc not the edge????
But as I said some aftermarket discs only list the offset as 10mm not 10.5mm

Noted - i'll post some pics of the YZF when finished which will be before the spring as i have a few track days planned for it
