Fairing bracket bolt stuck inside

When helping me take the nose fairing off my young loon managed to round one of the 4 fastener heads which meant I had to drill the head off to finish removing the fairing.

This bracket now has the body of the bolt/screw inside it with not enough of it protruding to get any purchase on it.

Any ideas how I can recover the situation? It looks too delicate / small diameter to drill out and it seems to be a steel bolt in an aluminium female body so could be tricky anyway - or is that the only option?

Drill out and retap the thread if needed. You could also weld a clean bolt on the stuck bolt to take it out. If welding is tricky, perhaps a bit of glue the likes of JB Weld might do the trick. Don't forget to heat it when taking the bolt out.

Good luck!

Access to tig? weld a washer to the stuck bit with a plug weld then weld a nut to the washer. will come out easily.

Thanks guys. Managed to drill down inside the stuck bolt as it was a bit larger in diameter than I first thought and glued in a small bolt with JB Weld.

Will wait until tomorrow to see if that'll be strong enough...
