Heya all, I am looking for a mechanic in western Australia that knows how to work on these old carbied beasts. If anyone knows of anyone that would be great.
Bike is running rough if I open the throttle wide almost like a miss or limiter.
Also looking at fitting an ignition upgrade & maybe fcr's, so finding a good mechanic & dyno tuner in my home state would be great :)

Japanese import's have a limiter in the ECU built in triggered by the speedo at 180kph.
Disconnecting the speedo cable will not bypass it as this triggers the limiter at 180kph too due to the pickup triggers at both 0 and 180kph.

Just another reason to buy an ignitech
Is there a way to bypass this to check if this is the issue?

Unscrew the facia on the dash, disconnect your speedo cable, get the speedo needle and stick a piece of tape over it and point the needle at 100kph and stck it in this position. .
This way the needle which has a magnet attached inside is sitting between the other two magnets that trigger the limiter at 0 and 180 kph.

If you haven't put a carby kit in for over 20-30,000km that may be your culprit.
A must do with the down draught carbies .

I am guessing it's a carb kit that needs doing as the ignition box is a green labelled 4UN unit.
Still going to ditch it for the ignitech though :)
