Trottle Cables

OK, before I lose my temper and start thumping innocent babies, does anyone have any tips on how to connect the throttle cables to the carby?
I have done this many times before, but that was about 10 years ago, and if there was any trick to it I have well and truly forgotten it.

Took a lot of patience, which I don't have much of these days, but I got it together eventually

A long set of pointy nosed pliers and wind the throttle wide open to access the cable notch .

That's sorta what I ended up doing.
Pliers in one hand, throttle cable in the other.
Hold the carbs in one spare hand and make sure the cable is pushed through as far as possible
Jiggle the end of the cable with the pliers so that you can grab then end of it with the fingers of another spare hand and fit it onto the notch.
Do not sneeze at this point.
Once the cable end is fitted into the notch, make sure you have enough slack to fit the cable to the guide by carefully manoeuvring the cabs and the cable (remember hands 2 & 3)
Once the throttle pull cable is in place then the return cable is easy.
