Exhaust Collars - Heat?

Hi all,

I decided to pull the exhaust off the spare bike and straight away snapped one of the studs at the nut trying to get the nut off despite soaking it and warming the bike up  The other three nuts came off okay after repeated doses of Plus Gas.

So, along with having to get the snapped stud out (suppose welding a nut on to what's left might be the idea), I'm also struggling with the collars being fused on. I've read they can be a bitch, so am going to try a liberal application of heat. Do I aim for the studs and heat them til they're red hot and keep tapping away at the collar?

Dremel, patience & a few beers ;)

You can then fit some old zx10 2piece collars when fitting your downipes back on the bike ;)

Cheers Adrien - I'll hit them with the blow torch first (probably set fire to the bloody thing....) GPz900/ZX10 collars fit on, and where the hell do you find them?
