Cam chain tensioner

Hi all,I have just checked valve clearances and bought the appropriate shims.My question is do I relieve the tension ie back it off before I reinstall the cam chain tensioner ?

Errrm you`ll need to remove the cam chain tensioner, so yes, the chain will have become slack on it`s back run.

Sorry,I will try to explain what i mean.I have already taken the tensioner out.Cams are back in and reference markers lined up as per manual.Do I just put the cam chain tensioner back in and it will automatically adjust?

Yes if you release the plunger on it`s ratchet. Use the SEARCH function (top right), it`s all been covered before on the forum.
