front fork overhaul

Post by talula » Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:27 pm

Hi,

started to change front fork seals, got as far as undoing the bottom allen bolt, but can't get any further as everything inside seems to be turning. Ifollowed the instructions given by the Haynes manual but to no avail. Anyone got any ideas please.

Not sure what the Haynes guidebook says but to get that bolt out you want the fork fully assembled. Turn it upside down with the preload cranked up to max. Then attack the bolt preferably with a windy gun to break the thread away.

Hi

I just took mine to my Yamaha dealer...and in 20 secs it was free ..no charge...and he tightened it up again when I had changed the oil etc

If I had a compressor, I could have done it myself
