for futre reference Iridium plugs ---- any good or a waste of money.??

I pay £3.50 for a pair of standard plugs. How much are Iridium?

I checked the price recently - I think they came out at about £8 each.

I use "splitfire", really good!

I use Iridium plugs. The science behind them makes sense and my tuned motor burns hotter than stock so I went for them. The difference for a pair is about £10.

They aren't cheap, but there are only 2 on the TRX. Got mine at last years NEC bike show, but couldn't say If there was any difference either in starting or running.

I don't want to start a flame war here but 'splitfire' is a bit of a con. The spark will always form across the path of least resistance. ie. it will use one side of the split or the other. Your better of spending money on a top of the line set of leads and get normal plugs.

Using dynacoils and leads wich also is great!

splitfire is a bit of hit and miss... Some people swear by em and claim bigger dyno numbers, not much, but actually measurable ! other ppl say they do nothing except empty your wallet faster.

The only time i can see them being a benefit is if one of the earth straps get dirty it will arc out on the other one easier rather than burning thru the ceramic (carbon) layer..

Im more of a "good leads / coils, normal plugs" sorta guy personally.

so what coil kits everyone running then? i have found dynacoils at around £100 the reason i ask is after the little non running espisode the other day , she starts fine now but runs on one cyl for 30 sec then the other one kicks in and she struggles to ( easily rev for a while ) when she does rev hard it chucks out flames from both pipes ( looks good ha ha)

i was wondering if i had fitted some new but crap plugs or wether it was just a seasonal thing weather an all

Flames from both pipes? Hard to start? Worn emulsion tubes - too much fuel going in there.

what type of coils are they martin?

do they really make a difference from the standard ones?

WRT iridium plugs. This gets occasional debate on the Aprilia forum. I read a bit of the theory and it makes logical sense. However, I think I came to the conclusion that unless you race or you have a particularly modified engine that means that it runs particularly hot, then there's no real benefit.

But then the cost difference is small if you only have 2 plugs, and theoretically you shouldn't need to change them for something like 100,000 miles.

They're standard coils.

Yes get the emulsion tubes done. Will make a huge difference.
