I have been doing a bit more freeway work in the last couple of weeks. i have noticed that at about 55mph in top gear the bike seems to be surging?? at first thought it was wind and my body working like a sail. but have been playing around, if i change back to forth and continue it disapairs.

the revs dont change it just feels like it loses power for a second or two at a time. it was there befor i did all the rebuild.
I know it needs a session on the dyno but has any one got any clues on what to look for befor i speend heaps on getting the shop to do stuff i can.

sounds like it's running a bit lean. could be a carb diaphragm split or not seated correctly. airbox stubs not on the carbs tightly. carb to head rubbers twisted or split. needle too low.????

55mph in top gear, it must be so lumpy at those speeds it might just you opening the throttle a touch, or closing it.

Speed up

I suppose, but anything almost like stock gearing and you will have issues at those speeds in top gear I reckon.

hmmm dunno. my bike is happy down to 45 in top, but then I don't know what gearing it has!

Never done the seal but actually ordered one, is it tricky??
In that case, bring your camera for us! [-o<

perv owner put rebuilt carbs on it not long befor i got it off him i think he put some bigger jets in it as well as he put a k&n and scorpion cans on it. but i know it has not been dynoed as he got the TL at that point and just used the trx in inner london.
will have a look at the sprokets and count. but it sits there at about 4000 rpm, give it a twist and it pulls away well enough, it dose not bog down any way

i'm sitting at about 70-75 at 4k, 55 for me is about 2.5k. If i can then 4.5k/5k 80-90mph is where the bike is most comfortable I find.
