hi does any one no what the paint code is for 1997 black trx its all black and frame, grey engine ,australian model ive tryed the number under the passengers seat but no codes came up at the paint shop ,ive tryed matching it but the match never gets that dark black and the match all ways has to much metalic in it if any one has any ideas or links that would be great cause it gives me the sh-t- haveing a bike with every color black except the right black cheers gazza

Yamahas paint code for the black, which is the same for all black TRX's whatever year, is Black2 or BL2.

Sometimes another code is also used on the end of this, which is 004B

Yamaha UK don't sell paint any more. They refer you to a company called RS Bikepaints in Barnsley UK (01707 273219). Appreciate you are Down Under, but they may ship...?

The black metallic comes out with a matt finish, so you need a lacquer top-coat too.

thanks for that i,ll chase up some paint shops up .is that use a matt topcoat .or gloss topcoat for over the black?thanks gazza

If you use Yamaha BL2 paint, it will dry with a matt finish. You then need a clear lacquer on top to get the shine.
