What would be the advantage? Thought they existed because of EFI systems and for no other particular reason. [<---- actual serious question :) ]

I used one for my big tank conversion on the KTM .. no laffin now!

I managed to find a low pressure (1.5-3.0 psi) pump from a ZX6R, which works much like the Facet solid-state pump. It was a piece of cake to fit, just strapped it to the frame member below the tank, although the TRX should be somewhat easier, and took a switched live feed for the pump from the fuse block. There's no recirculation circuit so the pump only pumps when the pressure in the fuel line to the needle valve drops, once the needle valve shuts off the flow the pump stops - valve opens pump pumps... bloody brilliant!
The original 640ADV had a similar diaphragm pump to the TRX - it took freakin aaaaaaages to fill the float bowl from empty, dam nearly flattened the battery! With the pump it goes "vrrrrrup" and in less than 3 seconds the bowl's full and she starts first press...

greg did you use the std trx tap ? as far as i can see it wont work with the trx tap because the pump sucks on the feed line so i would think it will keep the demand valve shut as i doubt the vacuum will be able to hold the demand valve open ,, what do you think ??

My YZF has a fuel pump, I always wondered why?
Makes a wzzzzh-sound when contact is turned on.
Carbs are almost indentical to that of the TRX.

I had a TRX race bike with an electric pump (from a Mitsubishi car IIRC) that was wired straight to the battery via a simple switch.

Worked fine with the standard fuel tap. Vince (TRXracer) from here has got it now

Steve - I did say it was my KayTeeEmm ... having said that if you leave the vacuum pipe connected to the inlet I'd guess it'd still work ok as the motor should fire on what's in the float bowls then as soon as the tap's open the pump will have fuel to move...

Best of luck..

i have got a yzf 750 pump so i tried it on the bench with the old trx carbs and it worked a treat so i set to wiring all the electrics in the bike,, relay ect, went for a start and it pissed fuel out of the overflow ,,i think the float valve jet is to big in the fcr,s and the float cant hold back the pressure ,,anyway Ive put it all back to std while i have a think   bugger
