G'day all, just new to this site and already have a problem that needs urgent action.
I have had my key stolen by a dirty little tea leaf, no i don't have a spare.
I have been told that i can get another key, or three, cut from the original ignition by a locksmith.
It looks as though it will be a bit of hassel removing the ignition as the steering is locked and will require a bit of modification to the lock as the one way screws will need to be drilled out.
Has anyone out there got any thoughts.
I'm also considering removing the storage lock to see if a key can be cut from it but again will be a bit painful as i wont be able to remove the seat and fairing.
Any help would be appreciated.

why not use the filler cap lock then?

You can't remove the whole filler cap unless the filler cap is open as there's a bolt on the inside, and to open it you need the key.

You can't remove the ignition lock without drilling out the one-way security bolts, as you say. Only way to do this would be to take off the top yoke, which you don't need a key to do, and then drill them out. But this means a complete front-end strip-down: wheel out, forks out etc. Shouldn't matter if the steering lock is on or not.

Easiest lock to remove is the pillion seat one: you just need a set of security torx bits. It can be done with the rear seat unit in place, but it's fiddley.

As far as I know for getting some new keys for your locks you need the number which accommodated your original key. Then a Yamaha dealer can help you.

As well a Yamaha dealer should be able to order matching keys from your frame number in connection with a proof of your ownership in case you lost the key number or haven't got any (provided that the ignition lock is the original one).

No fiddling with the ignition lock or other locks necessary.

you could always take them the whole tank (but seat lock is easiest option imho)
