I've got my self a collection of slightly used supersport and superstock rubber from a mates R6 and I'm wondering how much clearance if any there is between the swingarm and tyre wall, and is there any mods to be done to slot a yzf rim onto the rex?

mines got this mod you need to turn the spacers down ,,use a dished sprocket and flip that over to get the chain to line up, and the clearance on the tyre is about 8mm depending on what tyre you use ,,i have a dunlop , and its one of the best mods ive done mine was done by trixynut

Obvious but don't put a 180 on the standard 5 inch rim!
YZF 5.5 inch rear wheel is an easy mod. If you search posts, you'll find one from Brockzilla where I told him what measurements you need to turn the spacers down to, then put TRX bearings in the YZF wheel to accomodate the TRX thinner axle, flip over the sprocket as long as its a dished type one on one side) fit a 16 tooth front sprocket to account for the bigger diameter on the 180 tyre and all is sweet: no irreversible mods and no machining of the wheel. Brake disc lines up too.
And we all know, bigger is better!

trixynut is right what he says, and the bike feels a lot more planted when leaned over

Kept the sprockets as standard no probs on mine, but then I dont have to ride through the city/town on it. You will have to ask Phuk what it came from, but the spacers and bearings from the TRX didnt fit so the spacers had to be made and used the bearings from the bigger wheel.

i THINK 170 is the biggest on a stock TRX rim.
180 can be put on a YZF rim, not sure if you need the YZF swinger to suit.
Ive got a 190 on my R1 wheel, and a R1 swinger.

It turns into corners like poop.

180 would be the biggest id go.. possibly even 170 again.

A yzf wheel with 180 section tyre will fit in a trx swing arm

Although not recommended, I know some ex-TRXers that used to do trackdays on used 180 race-rubbers (Racetec and the likes) on original rims. They were darn fast, beating many in the fastest group with bog standard TRXs. Might not be the best solution, but definitely rideable and not that bad as many would think.

This is so true. I used to race my trx on a budget and could get shed loads of 180section tyres cheap. squezing 180 tyres on a standars rim gave a slightly taller profile which was better when leaned right over. I have several race wins and trophys from racing on this set up
