What mileage should they be changed at?

What does Mr Yamaha charge for these blighters?

Big job/job at home/job for a competent mechanic?

How big is the smile after you've done them!!

Bike I'm buying has done 26K and as far as I'm aware has the original ones stil in place so I'm planning to change them as one of the first jobs I do.

My advice is to save your money, my bike's got 25K on it and has still got the standard tubes in it. I was getting some parts at a Yamaha dealer the other day and asked for a pair, the owner of the shop said what do you need them for?... they'll be ok for another 20K, and advised on getting the carbs balanced, which I did and it made a huge difference to the driveability of the bike.

You'll only know if they're worn when you do a carb strip-down - in any case, you'll need new needles as well.

Not going to comment on wether you need to replace yours or not as I haven't got a clue but they are £20 each from a dealer (I asked yesterday).
My bike has done nearly 15K now & is showing all the signs of worn tubes but may well just need carbs balancing. I've ordered a pair of those ebay factory pro tubes anyhow coz I love messin & it will be one less thing to worry about. Will let you know how I get on changing them.
Are you buying this bike for sure then or just viewing it ? Hope it's ok for you. Would this be the blue one you mentioned the other day ?

Off thread slightly but I'm 99% certain to buy the blue TRX mentioned elsewhere on the forums. Owner is rectifying a few matters on it currently: new battery, draining out old fuel/putting some fresh go go juice in and changing oil/filter and getting it in for MOT Monday/Tuesday and providing theres no horrors identified - which we aren't anticipating - we'll have a deal. Watch this space....
