YZF750 front end swap questions

Post by Kayla » Sat Dec 27, 2008 5:08 pm

I did a search and it threw up too much to sort through so sorry if I'm asking stuff again.

I've bought a complete YZF750 front end- all I need to do is swap the stem over and that's it, right? The ignition barrel and lockstops line up ok? Thank you for your time :D

Yes, that was the answer I got last time I asked. Lockstops, ignition etc. only potentially issues on the R1 conversions.

I'm pretty sure the Steering lock requires some work.... I seem to remember chopping a bit off the frame to make it all fit together.

A quick bit of work with an angle grinder, presumably. Does anyone know exactly what's required?

I did nothing to the steering lock, although the guy before had drilled the stops on the yoke and fitted two small bolts to restrict the turn a little. I took the bolts out and all was fine: bars clear the standard fairing and miss the tank ok.

Lockstops and ignition (don't ask me how I know you don't need to cut about and solder an R1 ignition  ) all work fine.

If you want a steering lock then some work is need - I didn't bother so didn't have any cutting to do (existing does not interfere with YZF / R1 set up)
